There are occasions on the world’s sporting calendar that call for festive hats. The Virginia Gold Cup, the Kentucky Derby, Royal Ascot, the Melbourne Cup, the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and the Cheltenham Festival come to mind. This week the four day Cheltenham Festival included a hat extravaganza on Ladies Day on Wednesday. The racing was prime, but the hats and wardrobes were sublime... as usual in spite of it being March in England.
